As they passed a little distance, they observed the hunter coming in the opposite direction. On seeing the hunter, deer ran into the bushes, crow flied on to a near by tree, rat into the underground  rat hole. But, the tortoise could not escape and caught by the hunter.
The hunter was happy as he caught the tortoise after escape of the deer.He tied the tortoise to the edge of the bow and leaving to home by keeping it on the shoulder.
The deer, rat and crow started worrying for the tortoise being captured by the hunter. The crow asked the rat to give an idea for the release of the tortoise from the hands of the hunter.
In reply to this the rat said , in the way of the hunter, the deer will lie, as if it is dead. Then the hunter would put the tortoise tied to the bow. Then, I will cut off the rope tied up to the bow. Thus, the tortoise can escape. The idea was well appreciated by the rat and crow.
